Introduction to Sensory Processing Part 1: Beyond the Sensory-behavior Divide

This session will provide an overview of basic concepts of sensory integration and processing theories, including links between sensory processing and behavior.
Stacy Frauwirth is the Director of Child Development Services at Through the Looking Glass in Berkeley, CA. Stacy is a licensed occupational therapist with more than 25 years of pediatric clinical, teaching, and supervisory experience.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify the 8 sensory systems.
- Participants will demonstrate an understanding of basic concepts of sensory integration and processing theories.
- Participants will be able to identify the symptoms and behavioral manifestations of sensory modulation and sensory-based motor disorders.
- Participants will understand the impact of sensory processing differences on emotional regulation, social engagement, and parent-child interactions.

Coming soon Introduction to Sensory Processing – Part 2: Clinical Applications Wednesday February 10, 2021 | 12:00-1:30 (Register separately) This session will build on Part 1. Participants should have attended the Part 1 session or should have a working knowledge of sensory integration concepts. Using case studies and real-world clinical challenges, attendees will learn strategies to promote the development and participation of children with sensory processing challenges.
