Diane Simon Smith brings unique personal and professional experience to her work with families of children with special needs. She holds Masters degrees in Public Health and in Marriage and Family Therapy. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice for over 23 years, she has worked with parents raising children with disabilities as they experience with issues of loss and and resilience. She facilitates parent support groups, as well as sibling workshops. She is the creator of two retreats for parents of special needs children Healing the Mother’s Heart (for mothers) and The Journey Together (for couples). Diane is a frequent speaker at conferences on the subject of disability and its impact on the family. Diane has been a South Chapter Board Member of the Infant Development Association of California. Her greatest teachers have been her own unique sons, one with Cerebral Palsy (now deceased), the other with Fragile X Syndrome who is now 32. |
