This training equips early childhood professionals with the knowledge and tools to provide trauma-informed support to infants, young children, and their families.
Through a lens of cultural humility and equity, participants will explore the profound impact of trauma, such as domestic violence, housing insecurity, deportation, and family separation, on early development and caregiving relationships. Systemic racism and intergenerational trauma will be addressed as foundational elements that shape the experiences of many families and influence how care and support should be delivered.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the signs and developmental impacts of trauma in infants and young children, including how early adversity can shape brain development and relational patterns.
- Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive strategies to support families navigating acute and chronic stressors such as homelessness, family separation, financial hardship, and community violence.
- Analyze the influence of systemic racism and intergenerational trauma on family well-being, and identify practical steps for promoting equity and resilience within their professional practice.
